NEW WHITE PAPERS, CASE STUDIES
Lehigh Cement Company –
New Case Study Available on Line
Achieving energy optimization and operational excellence in cement production
Over the years, Lehigh Cement’s innovative thinking has helped it optimize energy consumption
and improve operational efficiency. From eliminating islands of automation and integrating its software platform under one centralized
location to transferring production data into SAP, Lehigh Cement has reduced energy consumption and improved productivity. This approach
challenges the notion that PLC/HMI-based controls are the only cost-effective method for cement producers to improve the efficiency
of their operation. Integrated process automation systems are being designed to meet, and many times exceed, the specific requirements
of the cement industry, particularly for those with an objective to optimize Lehigh Cement Company’s complete modernization
of its cement manufacturing facility in Union Bridge, Maryland has helped them conserve energy and improve production processes. The
integration of innovative process control technologies has allowed the company to optimize energy management and improve process efficiencies
throughout the facility. By modernizing the facility, Lehigh was able to reduce power consumption per ton, decrease labor, and increase
cement production to over 1,800,000 metric tons.
White Paper: Class 72 Elevator Starters — Motor Wiring Fault for Inside Delta ConnectionIf
the elevator starter is not properly wired, or certain fault conditions exists the LCD will display Motor Wiring Fault. While the
"Motor Wiring Fault" is almost always caused by incorrect motor wiring, it can also be caused by; a malfunctioning fault contactor;
undersized control power transformer (CPT), bad motor winding; incorrectly configured "Cycle Fault Contactor” setting without
using the required timing circuit etc. When troubleshooting this fault, I have found that it is usually best to double check all motor
wiring before looking somewhere else for the problem.
