ST 7254 – Insight Workstation II with BACnet

Overview: Building on Insight Workstation I, you will learn how to build and modify system objects. A scenario-based skills assessment at the end of the course allows you to put into practice the knowledge you have learned. This class is for you if your facility has Siemens BACnet field panels or a combination of Siemens BACnet field panels and Siemens proprietary field panels.

Participants: For advanced users of Insight with BACnet whose role is to create and modify points, graphics, user accounts, zones and events.

Objectives: Upon completion of the course, you should be able to:

  • Describe the networks used in Insight communication

  • Use System Profile to edit the system architecture

  • Describe the default BACnet Command Priority Array

  • Create and modify points

  • Copy existing points using Attribute Duplicator and trend points

  • Create Insight and ALN/BLN user accounts

  • Assign privilege levels to user accounts

  • Add objects to Access Groups

  • Setup the command settings for BACnet Command Priorities

  • Modify BACnet points to define alarm properties

  • Create alarm messages and build BACnet notification classes

  • Use Micrografx Designer to create background graphics

  • Use the Graphics application of Insight to create dynamic graphics

  • Create logical series of links between dynamic graphics

  • Create a BACnet Command object

  • Discuss how BACnet calendars are used in BACnet schedules

  • Build BACnet schedules which incorporate BACnet calendars and control BACnet Command objects

  • Describe features of Program Editor

  • Import and save a program

  • Describe key features of a program

  • Generate reports used in troubleshooting programs

  • Describe how Scheduler works

  • Use BACnet scheduling to add a new calendar and schedule

  • Backup and restore the system database

  • Use the Database Transfer application

  • Utilize the System Activity Log to track system activity
